The groundbreaking ceremony of Kastamonu University Çatalzeytin Vocational School, which will be built with the contributions of Ali Kütük, a philanthropist businessman from Kastamonu, was held on August 31, 2024 in Çatalzeytin.
Kastamonu's Governor Meftun Dallı, AK Party Kastamonu Member of Parlement Fatma Serap Ekmekci, Rector Prof. Dr Ahmet Hamdi Topal, Çatalzeytin Deputy town manager Hilal Buse Ünal, Former Minister of State Murat Başesgioğlu, General Director for Combating Desertification and Erosion of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization Prof. Dr. Kasım Yenigün, Çatalzeytin's Mayor Ahmet Demir, representatives of NGOs, political parties, public institutions and organizations and citizens attended the groundbreaking ceremony.
Kastamonu University Çatalzeytin Vocational School will have a dining hall, a canteen, a computer laboratory, four seminar halls, four lunch club rooms, ten classrooms, and 28 staff rooms in the building, which will have an area of 6 thousand 113 square meters.
Speaking at the program's opening, Çatalzeytin's Mayor Ahmet Demir touched upon the importance of the vocational school and stated that Ali Kütük has created significant works in Kastamonu and Turkey. Mayor Demir noted that some works might be forgotten, but this school will never be forgotten. He said that the successful students who will grow up here would thank Ali Kütük and expressed that he is also grateful to Mr Kütük.
During the speech, businessman Ali Kütük said that he had not made any special preparations to build the school. Stating that he has built two primary schools, one middle school and four mosques so far, Kütük said that despite the current economic crisis, he sold his property in a very important location in Ümraniye, Istanbul and is preparing to give 70 million liras for the school. Emphasizing that he knew the school could not be completed with 70 million liras, Kütük said he did not leave any unfinished work.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, stated that they have been instrumental in realizing many good works during his term of office, but today, they have realized the most meaningful one. Our Rector said they will realize this project with the contributions of philanthropist businessman Ali Kütük, who is an excellent value for Kastamonu. In this respect, he emphasized that today's groundbreaking ceremony is more significant than other works.
Our Rector stated that our University is 18 years old and continues its education and training activities with 14 faculties, 13 vocational schools and two colleges. Stating that since 2006, hundreds of students from all over Anatolia have received their diplomas and started their jobs in the private and public sectors, our Rector said that as a university, they have to provide the best academic education and ensure that they receive education in places built by the rules. At the end of his speech, our Rector thanked everyone who contributed and he hopedthe construction process would be completed and put into service as soon as possible.
MP of Kastamonu Fatma Serap Ekmekci, who thanked businessman Ali Kütük, said in her speech: "May it be beneficial to our fellow citizens of Çatalzeytin, our students and academic staff. May the construction be completed quickly and the vocational school be opened."
Governor Meftun Dallı, on his part, thanked everyone who contributed, worked and contributed to this process. He thanked the previous governor, the governors who were here due to floods, our Rector, the Mayor of Çatalzeytin and businessman Ali Kütük for their efforts. Dallı said, "They say that Allah Almighty gives knowledge to those who work and wealth to those who wish. Allah Almighty gives wealth, but He does not give the wish to spend it for good to everyone. He gave this to Mr Ali in excess," he said.
Former Minister of State Murat Başesgioğlu, who spoke in the program, stated that the vocational school would significantly contribute to the city and the training of new students and thanked everyone who contributed.
After the prayer by Kastamonu Mufti Bekir Derin, the protocol members laid the foundation of Çatalzeytin Vocational School.
