Times Higher Education (THE), one of the world's most respected university rating organisations, announced the results of the THE Impact Ranking 2024, based on the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals.
The Times Higher Education Impact Ranking is the only performance ranking that evaluates the achievements of universities in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Within the scope of the global impact ranking announced this year, universities were assessed on four primary areas and 17 sub-categories: "research", "management", "education", and "social support". Among thousands of universities worldwide, 1963 universities were evaluated, and 91 universities from Turkey were included in the Impact ranking. Meanwhile, Kastamonu University is in the 1001-1500 band, with 31 state universities in Turkey.
In the 2024 impact ranking, which includes 1963 institutions from more than 100 countries, our University has placed in the 1001-1500 band among 1963 universities that can enter the ranking among the universities in the world with 46.2 points out of 100 in the general ranking this year. In addition, our university has succeeded in 8 out of 17 sub-categories.
While our university is in the 801-1000 band in the category of "Healthy and Quality life" in the general ranking, In the "Zero Hunger" category, it ranked in the 401-600 range, in the 1001-1500 range in the "Quality Education" category, 801-1000 in the "Reduced Inequality" category, 401-600 in the "Sustainable Cities and Communities" category, 301-400 in the "Climate Action" category, 301-400 in the "Life on Earth " category, and 1001-1500 in the "Partnerships for Goals" category.

Our Rector, Prof. Dr Ahmet Hamdi Topal, said that significant achievements were recorded this year in THE impact category, in which our university took part for the first time last year, and stated that the ongoing quality and accreditation studies throughout the University play an important role in national and international achievements. Underlining that the accomplishments of our University will be carried higher every year with the diligent work of academic and administrative staff and students, our Rector stated that these studies will contribute to educational and regional sustainable development goals.
Stating that devoted work is the cornerstone of success, our Rector thanked all academic and administrative staff and students who contributed to the success achieved in the 2023-2024 Academic Year and wished them success in their studies. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal also emphasized that Kastamonu University has become a well-known educational institution nationally and internationally with these achievements. He expressed his belief that the university will continue this line. Finally, our Rector thanked the President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar and the Council of Higher Education members for their encouragement and support regarding quality standards and internationalization, which are the basis for achieving such successes.
