The opening of the working meeting organised to develop academic and technological cooperation between Kastamonu University and Hitit University was held on May 3, 2024, at the Senate Meeting Hall of our university.

Hitit University Rector Prof.Dr. Ali Osman Öztürk, Vice Rectors Prof.Dr. Nurcan Baykam and Prof.Dr. Eşref Savaş Başçı and the accompanying delegation visited our Prof.Dr. Rector Ahmet Hamdi Topal before the meeting.

During the meeting, where our Vice-Rectors, Prof.Dr. Kasım Yenigün, Prof.Dr. Mehmet Atalan, and Prof.Dr. Ömer Küçük were also present, and issues such as academic cooperation, university-industry cooperation, and regional development were discussed.

 Rector Prof. Dr Ali Osman Öztürk, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr Nurcan Baykam, Prof. Dr Eşref Savaş Başçı, and representatives of Hitit University Scientific Technical Application and Research Center, Technology Transfer Office A.Ş., Data Office, Quality Office attended the meeting also  Our Rector Prof. Dr Ahmet Hamdi Topal, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr Mehmet Atalan, Prof. Dr Kasım Yenigün, Prof. Dr Ömer Küçük and representatives of BAP Coordinatorship, Quality Coordinatorship, Technology Transfer Office Inc., Specialization Coordinatorship, Internationalization and Bologna Process Coordinatorship, Quality Coordinatorship, Data Analysis Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinatorship, IT Department, Student Affairs Department, Strategy Development Department attended the meeting.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, stated that each university has a unique structure and pointed out that institutions that face the same challenges on the same issues should discuss them, produce standard solutions for the problems they face, and share experiences. Underscoring that it is essential for other universities to repeat the success achieved by the staff at universities and to share the experience, our Rector said that sharing these experiences is work that saves both time and financial loss.

Stating that Kastamonu University has carried out essential studies in quality and sustainability, our rector underlined that the staff should approach the subject carefully and be dominant in this process.

Taking the floor after our Rector, Hitit University Rector Prof. Dr Ali Osman Öztürk reminded us that Hitit University has to compete with well-established universities when the education, production, and other capacities they have accumulated so far are put side by side and stated that they need to work harder to compete with these universities and that they will prioritise information sharing with different universities in this process.

Prof. Dr. Öztürk said they should work hard to reach unique and high-quality standards by turning deficiencies into opportunities and underlined that providing world-class services is their priority. 

Stating that the systems used by Hitit University are integrated with technology, Prof. Dr. Öztürk noted that our country is in the top 10 in digital applications in the world and stated that a measurable performance management and strategic management plan should be made before that by regulating this use with data.

Following the opening speeches, Rector Prof. Dr. Öztürk introduced performance-based strategic planning and the HEP system.

On the first day of the meeting, both universities shared their approaches to setting their strategic goals and measuring their performance. Afterwards, a series of sessions were held to discuss the steps that could be taken to increase the opportunities for academic and technological cooperation between the participants. The sessions reviewed existing areas of collaboration and exchanged ideas for identifying future joint projects.

On May 4, 2024, the meeting, which will continue on May 4, 2024, will discuss the education-accreditation process, academic coordination between universities, experience sharing, areas of specialisation and TÜBİTAK competence and processes, cooperation areas with the Technology Transfer Office and their contribution to process management, and issues regarding the preparation of draft laws and regulations concerning universities.
