Kastamonu University continues its successful performance by ranking high in the evaluations on environmental awareness and sustainability. UI GreenMetric World Ranking 2023 results were announced. Kastamonu University attracted attention by ranking 287th among 1183 universities.
Kastamonu University, which has continuously increased its achievements in the Greenmetric ranking, ranked 543rd in 2020, 423rd in 2021 and 348th in 2022. In the 2023 ranking, it increased this success even more and rose to 287th place. Kastamonu University has been rising steadily since 2020, when it first started to be included in the ranking for the first time, and continues its efforts in environmental sustainability.
UI Greenmetric, among Turkish universities, Kastamonu University ranked 34th in 2020, 32nd in 2021 and 28th in 2022. In 2023, it displayed a successful performance by ranking 25th among 98 universities. The university, which specializes especially in Forestry and Nature Tourism, plays an important role with its studies on environmental protection and sustainability.
The UI Greenmetric 2023 ranking included the categories of Building and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, and Education and Research. This year, Kastamonu University received 1325 points from Building and Infrastructure, 1160 points from Energy and Climate Change, 1275 points from Water, 1110 points from Transportation and 1725 points from Education and Research, totaling 7345 points.
With its rise in the UI GreenMetric 2023 ranking, Kastamonu University has achieved an important position in the international arena by standing out with its environmentally friendly policies and environmental protection efforts.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the University in the international arena. Our Rector emphasized the University's expertise in the field of Forestry and Nature Tourism and highlighted its goals of promoting the pursuit of regional development and environmental policies. Our Rector stated that they contribute to the sustainability of the environment with activities such as afforestation works carried out within the scope of the green campus, protection of green areas, energy and water saving.
Stating that they are in cooperation with various institutions and non-governmental organizations to protect the natural beauties of Kastamonu and transfer them to future generations, our Rector stated that the University leads the region with its environmentally sensitive policies and will continue its efforts in this field.
