Kastamonu University has succeeded in ranking among the world's top 1000 universities in three different categories in the Times Higher Education (THE) 2024 World Universities field-based ranking.
THE, a prestigious UK-based education and higher education ranking and analysis organization, publishes the World University Rankings annually to evaluate, compare and rank the performance of universities around the world. THE ranks higher education institutions based on a number of criteria such as academic excellence, research activities, student-faculty ratios, international cooperation, and links with industry.
For the First Time, Kastamonu University is Among the World's Top 1000 Universities in Three Different Fields
Kastamonu University has achieved remarkable success in different fields in the 2024 World University field-based Rankings prepared by Times Higher Education (THE) based on the parameters determined. Kastamonu University ranked among the world's top 1000 universities in 3 fields (Education, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences) in the ranking based on 11 different fields. Kastamonu University has achieved a great success by ranking in the 601+ band in the field of Education, in the range of 801-1000 in the field of Life Sciences and in the range of 801-1000 in the field of Physical Sciences. In all of the sub-fields of Education, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences, Kastamonu University showed a very important success by being in the top 20 among the universities in Turkey that managed to enter the list.
Kastamonu University is in the Top 20 in Turkey for the First Time Among the Universities Ranked in THE World Universities Field-Based Sub-Field Ranking
In THE World Universities field-based ranking, the Life Sciences Area consists of 4 sub-fields: Agriculture-Forestry, Biological Sciences, Sports Sciences and Veterinary Sciences. Kastamonu University ranked 11th in Agriculture-Forestry, 15th in Biological Sciences, 13th in Sports Sciences, and 8th in Veterinary Sciences in Turkey.
In THE World Universities field-based ranking, the field of Physical Sciences consists of 4 sub-fields: Chemistry, Geology-Environment-Earth-Marine Sciences, Mathematics-Statistics, Physics-Astronomy. Kastamonu University ranked 17th in Chemistry sub-field, 9th in Geology-Environment-Earth-Marine Sciences sub-field, and 17th in Mathematics-Statistics sub-field in Turkey.
Kastamonu University's Rise in International Rankings Continues
In the Times Higher Education 2024 world ranking, where more than 30 thousand universities from more than 100 countries around the world were subjected to ranking, but 1904 universities were able to take part in the ranking by meeting certain criteria, our University was among the most distinguished universities in the world with 1501+ ranking. Kastamonu University managed to take place for the first time in THE 2024 World University Rankings, one of the most respected rating organizations in the world. While Kastamonu University succeeded in ranking 36th among 75 universities ranked among the universities in Turkey by meeting the criteria, it maintained the same success by ranking 601+ in the European Universities ranking and 58th in the West Asian Universities ranking in the QS 2024 World Universities Regional ranking. Kastamonu University achieved a significant success by ranking 43rd among 73 universities from Turkey in the QS 2024 World rankings.

Kastamonu University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal said the following about these achievements: "As Kastamonu University, these achievements in THE World University Rankings show the international recognition and high education standards of our university. Our goal-oriented strategic plan studies, education, research and development activities and international collaborations have started to yield results. The biggest share in achieving these successes belongs to our faculty members and students. We thank them and continue our work with the aim of carrying these achievements even further."
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal stated that various projects are ongoing to increase the international impact of the university and open its doors to more students and researchers. "As Kastamonu University, we attach great importance to studies such as international student exchange programs, foreign language courses and various academic cooperation projects, article and project writing trainings. In this way, we aim to offer educational opportunities to more students at the international level and make our university even more attractive." Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal also emphasized that Kastamonu University has become a well-known educational institution not only at national level but also internationally with these achievements and expressed his belief that the university will continue this line. Finally, our Rector conveyed his thanks to the President of the Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar and the members of the Council of Higher Education for their encouragement and support in terms of quality standards and internationalization, which are the basis for achieving such successes.
