At the Faculty of Medicine of our University, the "2023-2024 Academic Year White Coat Wearing Ceremony" was held at the Central Library Sezai Karakoç Hall.
Students who started their education at the Faculty of Medicine wore their white coats at the ceremony held at the Central Library Sezai Karakoç Hall on October 18, 2023. The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Osman Güler, academic and administrative staff of the Faculty of Medicine, students, and their families attended the program.
At the opening of the ceremony, after a moment of silence and National Anthem, an introductory video was shown to the participants. After the screening, opening speeches were made.
Nihal İlayda Demiraslan, who started her education at the Faculty of Medicine, made the first speech of the white coat-wearing ceremony.
In her speech, Demiraslan emphasized that they will leave Kastamonu University as scientists who are curious, researching, and producing solutions, as well as ethical physicians, after graduating from Kastamonu University. Demiraslan also said, "As long as human beings exist, medicine will also exist. As the physicians of the future, we will help people; perhaps in their most difficult times, we will hold their hands and be the reasons for gratitude that will add sparkle to their eyes again."

Speaking at the opening speech of the ethics event, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Osman Güler stated that medicine is a profession and even a lifestyle based on hard work, patience, and human love, and underlined that the working material of physicians is honorable creatures, that is, human beings.
Dean Prof. Dr. Güler reminded that human life is touched in the profession of medicine and underlined that the work of physicians will be a source of honor for both their countries and their own families. Stating that they want to educate the students entrusted to them in the best way and raise them as physicians worthy of their countries and nations, Prof. Dr. Güler said that they will undergo a difficult and heavy education and pointed out that medicine is based on the master-apprentice relationship. Reminding the students that they should pay attention to what they have learned in the master-apprentice relationship, Prof. Dr. Güler stated that the problems in the health system have existed for years and that physicians have a great job in solving the problems. The dean of the Faculty of Medicine underlined that as long as there is a human being, there will always be a patient and a physician, and that there will be no patient without a physician and no physician without a patient. Prof. Dr. Güler said that it is a priceless feeling for a physician to heal the patient and return home, and stated that no obstacle should discourage students in a long professional life.
Following the speeches, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Osman Güler, Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Oğuz Özçelik and Faculty of Medicine faculty members dressed the students in their white coats.
At the end of the program, students recited the White Coat Oath with Assistant Professor Uğur Akbulut, Lecturer at the Department of Basic Medical Sciences, Department of Medical Biology. Prof. Dr. Uğur Akbulut by Kastamonu University Faculty of Medicine.
A total of 108 students, two of whom are foreigners, who started their education this year, took their first steps into the profession by wearing their aprons. Students, their families and other participants had emotional moments at the ceremony
